The storm we had two weeks ago was perfectly timed; we received almost four inches of rain.
After the initial clean up the course plays and looks great. This means that the irrigation system was virtually turned off; we just did some spot watering with hoses and individual sprinklers. Of course we are always busy mowing, trimming, fertilizing and with other maintenance practices.
We still have some clean up from the storm - trees that went down in non-playing areas, etc. Obviously they took a back seat to the golf course but now it’s time to begin that cutting and removal. The early rains also allow us to seed the chip areas that have no regular irrigation and become worn, especially near cart paths.
