We have made a great recovery from fairway topdressing with sand. The turf has grown through and they are smooth.

This is a new program to maintain good firm conditions in the winter months. The greens have healed nicely from  ... read more »

We micro-holed the greens this week - creating tiny holes smaller than a # 2 pencil. We also very lightly topdressed the greens and rolled them two days in a row along with mowing. They are putting true and looking great.

We topdress lightly these days so it doesn’t affect play;  ... read more »

Recently we underwent a dead tree cutting program coordinated with the fire department and Monterey County.  This program removed dead trees for safety and fire hazard. In the late fall when we anticipate the first rains, a planting program will begin, replacing the Monterey pines 2 to 1.

We are keeping the golf course in excellent condition. Some  ... read more »

Bon dia everyone.  Today is a new day and this is what’s going on at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

The greens are rolling true and fast and looking good.  There’s a lot of work going into the greens; vertticutting, light topdressing, fertilizing, mowing, and rolling. This season we have changed how we mow some of the  ... read more »

Maintenance for the  ... read more »

We’ve had a good growing month - the 3/8” tines we used on greens last week are healed.

Fairways and roughs are growing very well also so don’t go in the rough; play off the fairway as they are in great condition. We are in the process of cutting out the curb on # 12 fairway  ... read more »

Hi everybody.

I missed posting the last couple weeks; I was under the weather trying to survive but the good news is my assistant Kregg Bush and our excellent crew kept the course up very well for you.

We recently started opening up fairway cuts to change the feel more than playability. For example, bringing the fairway cut  ... read more »
