It’s has been a very busy time for the maintenance staff at Poppy Hills.

The week of Thanksgiving we aerated fairways and tees. They were all cleaned of the cores, seeded, topdressed with sand and fertilized with light watering to melt the fertilizer and wash in the sand. The entire process turned out very well; clean  ... read more »

The weather this week has been great.

We continue to mow and trim and set up for tournaments this week and get ready for more tournaments next week. Even though the weather has been great we continue to spray for fungus and nematodes, but I believe we are gaining on it. The warm and breezy weather  ... read more »

The storm we had two weeks ago was perfectly timed; we received almost four inches of rain.

What a storm we had a week ago today.

Almost four inches of rain caused pine needles and sticks to fall as well as five trees. I am happy to tell you that the place is cleaned uu including bunkers, fairways, and roughs. We are mowing everything normal; the only ongoing clean up is inside the tree line.

This week we removed several trees that have been dead for two-to-three years on the right side of the 18th green and fairway. After the removal we grinded the stumps and cleaned the mulch backfill with soil and seed.

We will be adding a new layer of bunker sand to several greenside bunkers;  we periodically add sand to  ... read more »
